To receive financial aid, a student
must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Students
must reapply for financial aid each year. There is no fee for filing
the FAFSA and early application is encouraged because many funds
are awarded on a first come first-serve basis. Applications are
filed starting January 1 each year for the academic year which begins
the following August.
The Financial Aid office sends an acknowledgment
to students who have filed a FAFSA and named Reedley College as one
of their college choices.
To apply for a Federal Direct Student
Loan, Student must first file a FAFSA and complete their financial
aid file. The student must also contact their Financial Aid Office
to complete a Loan Questionnaire and have their eligibility for
a loan, which includes a review of their academic process, checked
by the Financial Aid staff. The student must also attend a Loan
Workshop. The Financial Aid Office holds several Loan Workshops
per semester and the student is assigned a Workshop date at the
time that they fill out the Questionnaire.
To apply for a Reedley College scholarship,
students must file a Reedley College scholarship application between
January and February for the school year that begins the following
August.
The Reedley College Foundation also
has a scholarship program with separate applications, due dates,
and scholarship awards.
A student who does not have a high
school diploma or equivalent may be eligible to receive financial
aid if he/she is beyond the age of compulsory school attendance
and demonstrates that he/she has the "Ability to Benefit"
testing is administered by the Reedley College Assessment Center
The Financial Aid Office is located

physical needs, and is located downstairs in the Health Services
Office in the Student Services building.
Financial Aid Satisfactory Progress
To be eligible to participate in Federal
Title IV Student Financial Aid Programs provided by the U.S. Department
of Education, Reedley College students must maintain satisfactory
academic progress in a program leading toward a certificate, an
associate degree, or courses required for transfer to a four year
school.
The following is only a summary of
the official Satisfactory Academic Progress policy which is available
for review in the Financial Aid Office.
Students must maintain a minimum grade
point average (GPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and must complete at least
51 percent of the units attempted each semester. Students may not
continue to participate in financial aid programs after they complete
90 units.
Students who receive less than a 2.0
GPA, fail to complete at least 51 percent of the units attempted,
or fail to attain a cumulative 2.0 GPA for two semesters, will lose
their eligibility to receive financial aid until they regain satisfactory
progress. Financial aid progress probation standards are separate
and apart from the institutional academic satisfactory progress
standards due to the Federal Regulations governing the various programs.
Students who are on financial aid progress probation are not eligible
to apply for a Federal Direct Student Loan, even if they have not
yet lost their eligibility to receive financial aid.
Student whose receipt of financial
aid is terminated for failing to maintain satisfactory progress
may appeal this action in writing. The Financial Aid Office has
a supply of appeal forms for this purpose. The Financial Aid Appeals
Committee will make a determination as to the student's reinstatement
of financial aid after the student has submitted the appeal form
together with a Student Educational Plan provided to the student
by a campus counselor.
